The Stress and Anxiety Research Society (STAR) [www.star-society.org] is a multi-disciplinary, international organization of researchers who share interests in theoretical, experimental and applied aspects of anxiety, stress, and coping. Its members, from over 40 countries, meet annually to present and exchange research findings and clinical applications on a wide range of stress and anxiety related phenomena. STAR’s first scientific conference was held in Leiden, the Netherlands in 1980. Since then, yearly meeting have been hosted by STAR members in some of the world’s most beautiful cities across five continents. These meetings provide a platform for major addresses by internationally known scholars, paper poster sessions, and workshops. The conferences are relatively small, with approximately 200–250 participants, which mean that close collegial relationships are easily established. A familial atmosphere is one of the most important values of all STAR Conferences.
